01) THE LECTURE
The teams spent almost two years creating their houses. They mentioned the water leak problems in their design process. I think find problems and solve them in practice, it’s important in design process.
02) THE SHADE WEB-SITE: http://www.asunm.org/
A large shade structure on the south side of the home holds photovoltaic panels, providing both electricity generation and shade. A radiant cooling system circulates chilled fluid through the ceiling rather than using forced air-cooling to reduce interior temperature.Thermal storage enables more cost-effective use of energy by storing cooler nighttime energy and using it during the warmer daytime hours.
03) THE 2015 SOLAR DECATHLON: http://www.solardecathlon.gov/teams.html
Stevens: Stevens Institute of Technology
I like the Sure House’s Official Website, better than others. Good picture quality on their website and clear project timeline. Positive attitude it's important…
04) SITE VISIT: (In lieu of class Friday, 02.13)
It’s a sustainable home for desert living. Design for maximum benefits not just aesthetic appeal. The living room looks big enough but I didn’t find the bedroom’s window from outside. I think the SHADE’s design meet with the Xeriscape principles. Like the Low water use plants and reduce use of lawns (grass).
